Down the Evans Family Rabbit Hole: Let’s Talk About Jaiden 😮💨📖
Share
For the first nine days of 2026, I had the absolute pleasure of discovering a new-to-me author, Miss Jenesequa, and baby… I did not come up for air.
I took the full journey down the Evans family tree, starting with I Got You (side note: Genesis and Jordana? Loved them), then moved through Jasiel, then Jaxson in The King Who Got Me, and eventually landed at Jaiden, The King Who Got Me.
There is a fifth and final book, I Still Got You, which I’m currently reading, but I had to pause and talk about Book #4, because whew… Jaiden Evans deserves his own moment.
Jaiden Evans: The Plot Twist I Didn’t See Coming
Jaiden is the youngest of the four Evans siblings, and in the earlier books, he’s lighthearted, cracking jokes, and always the fun one. So imagine my surprise when his story opens, and we immediately see a different side of him. From page one, the tone shifts, and it’s clear this is a healing journey, not just a love story.
I thought Jaxson was my favorite… until Jaiden snatched the crown and walked off with it.
Dionne: CEO, Confident, and Completely That Girl
Let’s talk about the FMC for a second, because Dionne is a BOSS, okay?
She’s the CEO of a successful beauty brand and lives with vitiligo. Her story, especially how she works through self-doubt, grief, and reclaims her confidence, is just as compelling as Jaiden’s. There’s something so grounding about her character. She feels real. Like someone you could actually know. They feel like a couple you could point to right now and say, “Yep. That’s them.”
Heavy Themes, Handled With Care
Jaiden’s story doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff. He deals with depression and passive suicidal ideation, and it’s written in a way that feels honest and human without being sensationalized. Add in the fact that he’s a tech genius, and listen… I already knew the chemistry was about to be intense.
And yes, he absolutely put her through the mattress in the best way possible.
That Moment With the Godfather… 👀
The climax of the story? When Dionne introduces her boo to her godfather?
I figured it out before the reveal, but even knowing didn’t take away from how wild it was when it happened. Still had me sitting there like, “Wow…Girlllaaaa.”
Numa Evans Supremacy
And can we give it up for Numa Evans, the matriarch herself?
That woman is a modern-day Clair Huxtable. She loves her kids deeply, protects them fiercely, and will absolutely get them together when necessary. No hesitation. No apologies. Just mothering done right.
Healing, Not Just a Happily Ever After
What I appreciated most about Jaiden’s story is that even after the relationship solidifies, the healing doesn’t magically stop. Growth continues. Work continues. Love exists alongside the healing, not as a replacement for it.
We understand Jaiden’s struggles, we see him confront them in real time, and we’re reminded that love can be supportive without being a cure-all.
And honestly? I loved that.
